Our aim is to present all works of art to our client’s aesthetic requirements using conservation
materials and techniques. Each frame will be created to display and enhance any work be it on paper,
panel or canvas, in needlework or any other medium. Advice is always given and visits can be arranged to
consider difficult framing in situ. A photographic record of previously framed work is available to view
at the gallery and a limited number can be seen on this site.
This work is carried out by qualified Conservators to paintings in oil, watercolour, tempera, pastel
and other mediums, also to printed works, miniatures, textiles and sculptures. Conservation will
always be our aim but often the condition of pictures necessitates restoration and this will be
carried out to return a work to its best condition pertinent to its age.
Frames both carved and in composition can be repaired and restored as necessary. Our Carver can
replicate any pattern or work to a new design as required. Our Gilders can match existing gilt or
regild and tone to meet requirements. Painted finishes can be restored, copied or recreated.
The Gallery’s services are retained by a number of private collectors and collections, both large and
small throughout the Kingdom and Europe. We offer a management service which includes cataloguing,
valuing, photography, lighting, display and hanging. Reports on condition, schedules for restoration
and environmental control, are aimed to help where a curator is not employed. The conservation and
maintenance of a collection is often a problem. Therefore an on and off site curatorial and
maintenance service in addition to the skills listed above is provided where the size or importance of
the collection requires continuous attention.
